Boeing 737-800 engine cover falls off during Southwest flight

A Houston-bound Boeing 737-800 plane operated by Southwest Airlines returned safely to Denver International Airport on Sunday after an engine cover fell off and struck the wing flap, according to the Federal Aviation Administration.
The agency said it will investigate.
In recorded air traffic control audio, one of the pilots said that “several passengers and flight attendants heard something loud hit the wing.”
In a statement to CNN, Southwest said passengers would take another plane to Houston and would be approximately three hours behind schedule.
“We apologize for the inconvenience of their delay but place our highest priority on ultimate Safety for our Customers and Employees,” the statement said. Southwest said no injuries were reported.
Boeing declined to comment and referred CNN to Southwest for information about plane and fleet operations.

  1. Not defending Boeing in any way there a corrupt company & I would not fly on one atleast a MAX. But this is almost a 10-year-old aircraft with probably many flights under it, If Boeing does the maintenance I would say there responsible if Southwest does then them! No matter what the manufacturer remember this ain't new like the Alaska flight and it's a mechanical object so 10 Years old vs. new is a big difference with issues.

  2. It is said it is the latest in a string of failures for Boeing.
At this point, I do not thing it is a, "string of failures."
This is a ship's mooring rope of blatant, pitiful, self certifications, after hiring illegal aliens to build jets.

  3. It's called a fan cowling, this is a maintenance function to properly latch the fan cowl, and not a defect with Boeing itself, this was missed by Southwest flight crew and Southwest ground crew fyi

  4. Pretty sure they are the biggest airline supplier in the world. More planes than anyone else so its within reason there would be more incidents than other companies
