homemade kit kat candy bars! they’re gluten free, dairy free, paleo, and refined sugar free, and so good!

wafers
•2 cups almond flour
•1/2 cup coconut sugar
•1/4 cup coconut oil, melted
•1/4 cup warm water

chocolate filling
•2oz unsweetened chocolate (or 4oz sweetened chocolate)
•1/4 cup honey or maple syrup (omit if using sweetened chocolate)
•3 tbsp nut butter (almond & cashew butter work well)

chocolate coating
•4oz unsweetened chocolate (or 9oz sweetened chocolate)
•1/2 cup honey or maple syrup (omit if using sweetened chocolate)
•2 tbsp coconut oil (use 1 tbsp if using sweetened chocolate)

1. preheat the oven to 350F. while the oven preheats, mix together the wafer ingredients (if the dough is too dry add more water, if too wet add more almond flour).
2. once mixed place the dough between 2 sheets of parchment paper and roll it out. slice it into as many 3×1 inch pieces as possible. remove excess dough from the sides and repeat until all of the dough is used.
3. transfer the dough (keeping on the parchment paper) to a baking tray and bake until golden brown, about 8-12 minutes (time will vary depending how thin the dough is rolled out).
4. once baked, set aside to cool and make the chocolate filling: melt the chocolate then stir in the sweetener (if using) and nut butter.
5. once cooled, break apart the wafer pieces (use a knife to separate them if needed). spread the chocolate filling on 2/3 of the wafers, leaving 1/3 plain. place 1/2 of the wafers with chocolate on top of the other wafers with chocolate then top each stack with a plain wafer. place in the fridge/freezer until hardened.
6. once hardened, melt the chocolate and coconut oil together then stir in the sweetener (if using). coat the wafer stacks in melted chocolate and sprinkle with sea salt (optional).
7. to make kitkat bars simply press 2 chocolate coated wafer stacks together before the chocolate coating has a chance to harden. if they’re not sticking together, add a little more melted chocolate between the two stacks to help them stick together.
8. place the kit kat bars in the fridge until all of the chocolate has hardened, then enjoy!

  1. This just doesn't sound remotely worth it. It's so much more expensive to make and so much wasted time that even if it ended up tasting great, I don't think it would be worth it
